Update from the King Edward Elementary Parent Advisory Council – September 2017

The “Bat to School” Movie Night and Farmers Market

The Bat to school movie night on September 16 was a huge success! It was great seeing so many families out to celebrate the start of school.

Huge thanks to Heidi C. and Elena P. for the wonderful farmers market with produce from the school garden, and all the other parents who helped putting together this event!

The movie license and screen rental was brought to you by funds from KEEPAC and Old Strathcona Community League!

Pictures from the event can be found in the newsletter on SchoolZone!

AGM – October 16

The Annual General Meeting of the King Edward Elementary Parent Advisory Council will be held on October 16 at 6:30pm in the teacher’s lounge.

NEW Class representatives are needed!

Being part of the parent advisory council is great way to learn about all that is happening at the school.

CASINO: We Need Volunteers!

Our Casino is coming up December 17 and 18. Volunteers for the positions of General manager, General manager alternate, Banker and Cashiers, are needed ASAP as we need these positions filled to finalize our casino application.

A link to sign up is here: https://www.volunteersignup.org/JFB8P

It is essential that we have parent volunteers to fill the casino positions. There are still many spots to fill. Thank you to all parents who have signed up for shifts and if you haven’t had a chance to signup please use the above online link to do so. Money raised by the casino pays for field trips, technology (iPads, chrome books, smart boards, projectors), arts enrichment, library resources and much more.

Pride Festival 2016

We had a concession stand fundraiser during the Edmonton’s Pride Festival Saturday, June 10.

We want to thank Edmonton’s Pride Festival for letting us have the concession free of charge, Real Canadian Wholesale Club for their donation of $50 towards concession purchases, Elena P. for organizing everything and all the parent volunteers that manned the concession.

Art Cards Fundraiser

The very popular Art Cards will be offered for sale again this year so start looking for your child’s best piece or pieces of art to have printed on a set of cards. The fundraiser offers you the opportunity to get your child’s artwork on a pack of greeting cards while also raising funds for the school! They make personalized and beautiful greeting and Christmas cards.

Watch for more details, coming soon through your child’s communication book and via email from keepac1@gmail.com.

Fruit Basket Sponsored by No-Frills

Thank-you to No-Frills who is now donating all the fruit for the basket in the office! This is fruit that kids (or anyone else that wants some) can grab if they need a snack. Thank you to Laurence S. for picking up the fruit every week!

Volunteers Appreciated

Are you looking for a way to contribute to your child’s learning experience but don’t have evening childcare and/or can’t attend meetings? Maybe there is another reason that you haven’t been able to volunteer in the past but KEEPAC has lots of opportunities to contribute that can fit into your busy schedule. You could help with Friday ice cream days, Pizza lunches or provide input on the Arts Enrichment Plan, Book fair. These are just a few of the things that KEEPAC members do to help make King Edward Elementary the best learning and growth environment it can be for students. To find out how you can contribute, please email keepac1@gmail.com.
